The Guardian has a sweet slideshow of some of the pre-work that went into creating the comic. I especially dug on the collection of ink blots used for reference with Rorshach.

So an acquaintance of mine was on the Spike Awards show this past week (hi Ray). Normally I don't pay attention to awards shows because I don't really care what other people think about stuff, but I watched this one to see his big moment. I got a bonus for sitting thru the hoopla, besides seeing Ray stomp up on stage in his stormtrooper duds, they showed this new teaser.

Those lucky bastards over at Television Without Pity got into a press-only screening of the first half hour of the Watchmen. Here's their report.

Great little video from Sci Fi Wire on what it takes to transform Billy Crudup in an LED suit to the indestructible man. He's even sporting LED's on the bottoms of his feet.

I tell you, when first heard about 20th Century Fox's lawsuit against Warner Bros. over the rights to the Watchmen movie, the first thing I said to myself was "I know that, somehow, Adam West is at the center of all this!"

And, as crazy as that might sound, turns out I might've been right.

U.S. District Court Judge Gary Allen Feess said Fox should forgo any attempt to get a preliminary injunction against Warners to stop the release of the film because the issues were far too complex to be resolved on an interim basis, sources said.

FOX can still get an injunction down the road, but for now, it's going to trial.

So maybe FOX isn't just looking for a piece of the profits - according to the NYT, FOX lawyers have filed for an injunction to actually block the Watchmen's release.

Fox is trying to keep the Watchmen movie from being released, and a judge just refused to dismiss their case.

A bunch of Watchmen posters were given away at a recent comic con in San Diego, and here's some hi-res images of them.

Storywise, who knows? Mixed reports on the faithfulness of the ending and simply too much plot and character development to cram into a couple of hours leave me dubious concerning the storylines, but this trailer-to-panel comparison certainly shows that the visual style is being respected.

MPAA got all pussyhurt because of a 12-frame span - that's a half a second - in the Watchmen trailer where an assassin has his gun pointed at the camera. What to do?

Me, that's for damn sure. The trailer looks unFUCKINGbelievable, and so far, very true to the comic. Nearly every scene in the trailer was lifted straight out of the panels.

Yep, the Watchmen movie is still moving forward - and Zack Snyder's released some character stills from the upcoming project.

PLEASE, Zack. Don't fuck this all up. I've been a bigtime Watchmen fan since the original comic run in the 80's.

Roughly translated: Who will watch the Watchmen?

Me, that's who. I've been waiting to see Moore's Watchmen brought to life for decades. It's happening, and here's some stills from the backlot.

My favorite mainstream comic as a kid, The Watchmen, has finally been slated to be made into a movie, with Paul Greengrass attached as director. I'm torn - I've always said it would make a great flick, but I also see the sugary butchery that often happens to comic book movies.
