Holy crap, it's been better than 5 years since I knocked out a feature for the site. Well then.
Introducing a new feature series that I'll probably forget about ever making more episodes of, showcasing (in a manner of speaking) the stupid shit I get my action figures up to in the wee hours when I should be sleeping: They're Not Dolls, Mom. This first - and possibly only - installment is on my favorite figure of them all, a kitbash (combining parts from other figures and toys and stuff into something new) that goes by the name of Man Man.

It's been a couple of years since we last visited this concept, and fortunately, more examples have turned up. Not only do you get 7 more prime examples of this woeful yet amusing American practice, but you get a bonus - the 'digital bra' version of Showgirls, where dozens of lovely nay-nays get covered up with the video equivalent of Microsoft Paint. Enjoy.

The 'Did You Know' box over there on the right rail holds thousands and thousands of factoids, data, statistics, and infonuggets. I wanted to open that wealth of knowledge up to the world, while sanitizing it by weeding out all the crap.
From this desire emerged the Fact-O-Matic, where you can now spend hours mindlessly filling those little crevices in your brain that are too small to hold important stuff like knowing how to drive, tie your shoes, and poop. Enjoy!

If you're a fan of the Mystery Link over there in the right column, but you can't keep up with it rapidly changing or wish you could find that one thing that was on it a few days ago, we now have a nice shiny little microsite to make your life easier - read on if you're sufficiently intrigued!

Ok, so Sunny got me hooked on this dumb game on the facebooks called Mafia Wars. One of the many tasks in this never-ending timesucker is to collect stuff, from essential doodads needed for other parts of the game to priceless paintings and statues for vaulted collections. These items get 'gifted' to and from the people in your mob, and being that I'm such a polite boy, I write thank-you notes whenever I receive something and gift back. Here are some of them.

Way back in the long ago time of davelog version 1, we had a tagboard - a little box on the rail where anyone could leave short comments anonymously. This is kinda like that, but fashioned after (read: halfassed simulation) the snazzy electronic getup here that I have long lusted after but am too cheap to invest in.

Samuel L. Jackson's seminal masterpiece just made its cable premiere this past week, and naturally the catchphrase of the film got butchered into something hysterically surreal. This got me to reflecting back on so many other great movies that have been touched similarly. Of course, the only thing to do was to scour the YouTubes for other great examples.
Turns out there aren't as many documented on the web as I would have thought. Tragic. However, I did find 7 juicy ones that are worthy of being listed here - in no particular order, but with the feature-inspiring Snakes On A Plane in the anchor position. Enjoy.

In keeping with my never-ending quest to milk the hell out of stuff that I did years ago, I present Whiny Little Bitch, another one of those artifacts from my past where I vented my frustrations with someone by subtly belittling them online.

Last week, my quest for all things bacony led me to a recipe for glazed bacon-wrapped little smokies. Yesterday, I made some and documented the experience.
Additionally, my host just implemented a new flash video server, so all those little videos I did a few years back are now available through it. No more windows media!

First off, thanks to the staff for keeping the site going while I was away. Secondly, sorry for the lack of posts today - I got to sleep late after my weekend travels, and blew my morning writing up the experience. Go look at that instead, and we'll resume with your regular spate of web carrion tomorrow.

Due to a colossal fuckup on my part, all comments were blown away - I was able to restore from a backup from 12 hours ago, so if anyone's commented recently, SORRY. You'll have to repeat yourself, and the comment counts will be fuckered up for a bit until I can get them all fixed. Sigh.

We haven't had a movie review here lately, so I thought I would put up an email I received from a couple friends talking about the movie. Hope they don't mind.
1st email (which talked us into going to see it):
Saw it... go see it! very good.. just make sure if you have to pee or refill anything to do it before they get to the island which is about 45 min in. you wont want to leave after that.
2nd email (my friends response after seeing the movie):
oh my, i almost walked out of this film but the circulation in my legs had been cut off after the FIRST two hours. they could of threw an hour of it on the cutting room floor. the screenplay was awful and the love story was overdone. even the special effects and "action packed" shots seemed pushed to the limit, even for a "fantasy land" film. As J20 said, "i want my 3 hours back".
i know its a little harsh but that sums up my experience. i even had low expectations going in and they couldn't meet them. oh well.
and my opinion:
Wait for DVD where you can pause and go to the bathroom, smoke, go have sex, have breakfast and finish the flick later.

So, a while back I was shooting links back and forth at Hellvis, and I sent him to the Chuck Norris Facts site. He offhandedly suggested I do one for Bill Brasky from SNL - which for me, is pretty much all it takes - and here it is, in all its glory.

Well, I'm back safe and sound (and broke, natch) from my fabulous 3 day jaunt to Vegas, where we rode the High Roller on the Stratosphere, watched evil unfortunately get vanquished at the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur, gambled away the kids' college funds, and oh, got re-hitched by Elvis. Today, in fact, is our actual anniversary.
Big ups and thanks to the staff for keeping the joint up in my absence! If I were paying you guys, I'd give ya a raise!

Staffer Scooter1979 asked me to make something that would allow him to enjoy the pearls of knowledge at the top of the pages without having to reload over and over again... so with that, I present to you, the Chalkboard of Infinite Wisdom.
