DaveLog ("we," "us," or "the site") is a static, read-only blog hosted at davelog.com. We collect almost no data, and this policy explains exactly what we do collect and why. We've written it in plain English because privacy policies shouldn't require a lawyer to understand.

Information you provide
- Newsletter email address: If you subscribe to the weekly newsletter, we store your email address solely to send you the newsletter. That's it.
- Contact form: The contact form on this site is front-end only. It does not transmit or store data. If you email us directly, we retain your message for as long as needed to respond and then delete it.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: Our hosting provider may log standard request data (IP address, browser type, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not associated with your identity.
- Analytics: We may use privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics that report aggregate, anonymized traffic data. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any cross-site tracking.
What We Don't Collect
- We do not use tracking cookies.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.
- We do not profile you across other websites.
- We do not require accounts — the site is fully readable without logging in.
Cookies
This site does not set tracking cookies. If we add essential cookies in the future (for example, to remember a preference), they will be strictly functional, not tracking, and will be disclosed here.
Third-Party Services
- Hosting: The site is hosted on a standard web server. Your IP address is visible to the host for the purpose of serving pages.
- Email provider: If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email is processed by our email service provider solely for delivery.
- Fonts: We load Google Fonts via CDN. Google may receive your IP address as part of this request. If this concerns you, consider a browser extension that blocks third-party font requests.
We do not integrate with advertising networks, social media trackers, or behavioral analytics platforms.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to the data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your data (e.g., unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time — every email includes an unsubscribe link).
- Object to processing of your data.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data Retention
We retain your email address only for as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter. When you unsubscribe, your email is removed from the active list. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes and then automatically deleted.
Children's Privacy
DaveLog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted on the site.
